Liss Llewellyn - Art, Faith and Modernity

Exhibitions

Memorial Chapel
06th - 30th August 2019
08:00 - 18:00 (each day)

Selected as one of the ten best summer collections by the Daily Telegraph and the Art Newspaper, we are delighted to host a selection from this interesting exhibition of modern works.

The Cathedral is hosting 22 works from this 172 work collection by 73 artists.

These works, “….loosely grouped under the umbrella of religious art, draw attention to one of the richest – though under-researched– aspects of 20th century British visual culture”. They “…present a poignant argument – both visual and cerebral – for a reassessment of the important place that religious art continued to occupy in 20th century Britain.

Art, Faith & Modernity is part of Liss Llewellyn’s on-going programme of exhibitions, produced in partnership with museums and cultural institutions, which seeks to reappraise some of the unsung heroines and heroes of Modern British art."
