Hurry to Bethlehem

Christmas Music

Main Cathedral
16th December 2018 15:00 - 16:00

As Christmas approaches, bring your family and friends to see our modern interpretation of the traditional nativity service

Narrated by Dean Sue Jones and performed by 200 children from schools in the Merseyside area, it's sure to bring the true meaning of the festive season home.

The schools involved are:

  • Liverpool College Prep
  • St Cleopas CE
  • Garston CE
  • Rudston and Faith Primary School.

Our specially commissioned nativity was created by our very own Stephen Mannings, he told us,

“We’ve written everything from the score to producing a script and prop list from scratch. I came up with the idea after trying to pull together music from all different genres to fit our nativity production. It was a huge amount of work going from one resource to another and we couldn’t find what we wanted. It just seemed easier to write our own. As far as I know, we are the only cathedral to do this.”

  • Free and all welcome.
  • No booking required.
  • Limited free parking.
  • Family-friendly.

‘Hurry to Bethlehem’ is not only for the talent at our Cathedral to perform. Stephen has also developed a full musical resource for schools and young peoples’ groups. You can order your resource pack from the Liverpool Cathedral Shop.
