This dramatic collection of 30+ drawings is the first time the Cathedral has hosted an exhibition based on the building itself and by a single artist.
Colin Taylor has brought his powerful signature style of representing the unrepresentable to deliver an exhibition that will captivate and question in equal measure.
The approach is intuitive, direct and executed rapidly. The adventure begins with charcoal, chalk, graphite and cast iron and steel powder, applied and layered up on large sheets of handmade paper, erased and re-applied. They reflect the artist’s fascination for the Cathedral’s internal scale and space as much as its physical parameters. This must see exhibition places the experience of feeling the Cathedral on a par with seeing it. What will you experience as a result?
The exhibition will be opened by the Bishop of Liverpool, the Rt Rev James Jones on Monday 7th March 2011 at 6pm and will run continuously through to Tuesday 26th April 2011.
Entry to the Cathedral and exhibition is FREE. Car parking is pay on exit.
