Installed and opened in 1993, entrance to the Gallery is included in the price of the Tower Experience and is located on the third floor, accessed directly from the first stage lift in the tower. It consists of a large, internal Gallery at the west end of the cathedral, some 16m (50+ feet) above the cathedral floor level.It houses the exquisite and unique collection of Victorian and Edwardian ecclesiastical embroidery plus it offers fantastic views of the interior of the cathedral from a great height. An ideal visit for those whose passion is embroidery, both modern and traditional.

Opening Hours for the Gallery

Monday – Friday: 10am – 4.30pm with extended opening hours during summer

Saturday: - 9am – 4.30pm with extended opening hours during summer
Limited Sunday opening subject to services:12 noon – 2.30pm

Group Bookings

We welcome group bookings! A group tour incorporating the Tower Experience as well as the Embroidery Gallery, The Great Space Film and Audio Tour or a guided tour by one of experienced Cathedral Guides can be combined with a number of different catering packages, but booking is essential. For those with a specialist interest, we can arrange for a talk by the curator or one of her team who will show extra exhibits not currently on display.
