  • Professor Dr Ian Tracey - Professor Dr Ian TraceyHonour for Professor Ian Tracey

    Ian Tracey, the Organist Titulaire at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, recently received a top church music award in a special service.  Other leading church musicians, including the well-known singer/songwriter Graham Kendrick, were also honoured by the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM). More than 500 church choristers from all over the region took part in the service on May 17th 2008.

  • Liverpool Cathedral launches Great Space BSL Tour - a pioneering move in the world of Cathedrals Cathy signing for BSL DVDLiverpool Cathedral is delighted to be the first cathedral in the UK to have launched, for deaf or hearing impaired people, a filmed, captioned, British Sign Language tour of the this great Cathedral. It is available on portable DVD as an alternative to the audio tour normally used by hearing people and permits a wider range of visitor to enjoy the splendour and history of this Great Space.  The full colour tour, shown on a 7" screen is produced by LA Productions under the direction of Colin McKeown and can be bought as a souvenir and educational resource from the Cathedral Shop. Cathy Green, seen here, was delighted to be invited to be the signing commentator for the tour. Copies of the DVD are also available for purchase and can be ordered via the Cathedral shop.  17 January 2008
  • Cath Fireworks - 31.12.07 - Thousands usher in 2008 at the Cathedral Over 3,000 people packed the Cathedral for a night of worship and celebration to mark the start of the New Year.  Raising the roof at the 11pm service was Liverpool's own Love and Joy Gospel Choir who also  led the singing of Auld Lang Syne and Beatles songs to the crowds outside.  As midnight approached the 14.5 tonne Great George Bell tolled 12 times as prayers were said and candles lit, before the night sky exploded with a spectacular firework display and '2008' spelt out in fire. 02 January 2008
  • Dean Justin Welby - New Dean for Liverpool Cathedral Revd Canon Justin Welby has been appointed as the Dean of Liverpool Cathedral. He held the position of Sub-Dean and Canon for Reconciliation Ministry at Coventry Cathedral, and started his new role in December 2007. 31 December 2007
  • David Poulter - New Director of Music announced The Chapter of Liverpool Cathedral is pleased to announce the appointment of David Poulter as the new Director of Music.  He will have reponsibilty for the recruitment and direction of the Cathedral's vocal ensembles and and for the direction of the Cathedral's music programme.  On taking up his appointment in January 2008, Professor Ian Tracey will begin his new role as 'Organist Titulaire', retaining complementary responsibility for the Cathedral's organs and recitals, whilst having more time to devote to concerts, recording, teaching and writing. 15 October 2007
