Accessible Facilities
Every visitor is welcome to the Cathedral - as a pilgrim, student, tourist, event guest or business customer. Many of our volunteers and regular visitors have a disability. We value their contribution and insights. We continue to learn from those who we regularly invite as testers of our facilities.

An important part of our project to improve our visitor facilities at Liverpool Cathedral has been to make it more accessible. Within the constraints of the demanding nature of a remarkable building of enormous proportions and significance to architecture and heritage, we are striving to help as many people with different access needs as we can to enjoy this Great Space. Please call our Visitor Services Manager, Jenny Moran, if you would like to discuss visiting the Cathedral with special access needs (Tel 0151 702 7284 jenny.moran@liverpoolcathedral.org.uk). In the meantime, here are the some of the ways in which we are striving to help:
- Accessible Parking Bays
- Lift access from parking to Main Cathedral
- Toilets with accessible access
- Lift from Western Rooms to Main Cathedral, toilets and Presentation Theatre
- Lift from Shop to Mezzanine Café Bar
- Chair lift from Main Cathedral to Education Centre
- Induction Loop System for those who are hearing-impaired in the Main Cathedral
- Induction Loop System in the Presentation Theatre
- Induction Loop Sysytem in both Western Rooms
- Braille signage in the newly built toilet facilities and computer interactive stations
- Braille copies of the Welcome leaflet, Audio tour and Mezzanine Café Bar menu
- Tactile display at the ‘Building of the Cathedral’ station on the audio tour
- Especially transcribed audio tour copy for deaf people
- BSL and captioned Tour of the Cathedral on portable DVD (and now available in the shop to buy)
- Large print service sheets on request

(New welfare facilities, signage, and Visitor Centre development part funded through ERDF)
