In 1984 the Guiness Book of Records described Sir Ranulph Fiennes as the World's Greatest Living Explorer.In 1993 he was awarded an OBE for 'human endeavour and charitable services'.
Sir Ranulph has led 22 major expieditions to remove parts of the world including both Poles. In 2003 only 3.5 months after suffering a massive heart attack and double bypass operation, he ran 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days.
The is the author of 17 books and his latest biography in 2007 is entitled Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know.
The coxswain and crew of Hoylake Lifeboat are delighted to welcome Sir Ranulph Fiennes to Liverpool and thank him for supporting their appeal to raise funds for a new generation all weather lifeboat.
