Crafts at the Cathedral (17th - 19th April)

Come and experience something of the world of Woodworking, Basket making, Rope making, Flower arranging, Lace making PLUS: Bell ringing, Organ buiding, Stone working, Embroidery, Sculpture, Stained glass, and Quilting.

On Thursday 17th April Ken Dodd will be offically opening the event @ 12:00. On Saturday 19th April there will be the opportunity to take a ride on a horse drawn bus outside the Cathedral (ride cost £1 ) and inside the Cathedral from 12:00 to listen to Kathleen Duncalf's Edwardian singers and a group of Suzuki Fiddle players.
This year plans to be a a bit special, because as well as the feast of traditional crafts on display, many of which you can experience 'hands on' we have for the first time a vast model railway display in the Lady Chapel where you can also bring your own engine and try it out on the track yourself. see lots, buy lots, and enjoy a day of excitement and adventure by browsing the different exhibits, perhaps a visit to the top of the tower (over 500 feet above sea level) and visit the Embroidery Gallery set high above the cathedral floor. There will also be the chance to experience the new audio tour (portable DVD version available for the deaf) and see the fantastic 9 minute film of the hsitory and growtth of this amazing building as seen through the eyes of one of the stonemasons who helped to build it. A great day out for all the family. Be sure to get your Experience tickets after you have seen the exhibition areas.Open all, whether groups, individuals, families or just 'passing through' the city. Entry into the tower, audio tours and Experience tickets are fee apayable items. Come, see, do, and buy.
