Informal lunchtime choral concert by "Vokalensemble Mittelrhein" Choir

In 2005 the Crosby Capriol Singers visited the Rhineland and shared a platform with Vokalensemble Mittelrhein. A friendship developed between the choirs and the invitation to perform in Liverpool was given.  

Vokalensemble was founded in 2000 by conductor Winfried Kahl and has grown from 18 voices to 45, singing a varied repertoire of sacred and secular music in the a capella style.  

All the singers are drawn from the small towns and villages in the Rhine Valley and in the winter when the river car ferries are not working some singers have a round trip of more than 50 miles to attend choir rehearsals.  

Members have also performed several benefit concerts and have collected more than EU15,000 for charity.  

The Choir will be singing sacred, folk, gospel and light music, some of which has been chosen to specifically reflect Liverpool ’s diverse history - with sea shanties, and gospel songs.
