'Loss of Innocence' - Exhibition - Gaza children's artwork (until 6 Oct 09)

  • 26 September 2009
  • Venue: The Well, Main Cathedral
  • Time: 8.00am
Gaza artworkFor 22 days in January this year, 1.25 million people in Gaza, enclosed behind a wall, were fired on by land, sea and air. Over 300 children were killed, many more injured, 1400 children lost at least one parent and all were traumatised by what they experienced.
Rod Cox, from Chester, went to Gaza in March to work with schoolchildren who were using art to express their experiences and their hopes for the future. Some of the children’s artwork has been mounted in this powerful and moving exhibition. 11yr old Mohammed, eldest of five children, saw his entire family being buried alive inside their demolished home. His testimony can be heard on a 10min video. He is unable to hope. Other children express their hope for a future "of peace and harmony." Rod promised the children that he would allow their stories to be heard by showing their pictures around Europe. Please help him to keep that promise by supporting the exhibition.
