Cathedral launches Altar Frontal Competition for Children’s Chapel

24 June 2009

Background
On 16th October 2006, the Bishop of Warrington, the Right Reverend David Jennings, commissioned the Children’s Chape1 in the Cathedral.

The Children’s Chapel,
Created largely by children and young people themselves, is an essential element in the work of education in the Cathedral. It proclaims our commitment to children, their families, future generations and individuals who are in need of comfort.
The Chapel was designed to be a place of prayer, meditation and reflection. It is visited by many people including school children, families, those who have been affected by the loss of a child, those who are hurting and those who wish to pray for children world wide.

The Competition
To celebrate the ‘Year of the Child’, Liverpool Cathedral Education Department would like to launch a new altar frontal competition to affirm the talents and skills of children and to affirm their importance.
The competition is open to all school children, no matter what their faith, background, and indeed from those children with no faith background.
