EnjoyEngland.com - Quality Assured Visitor Attraction

England's Best

09 May 2008

The newest edition of the Rough Guide to England was published in early May 2008.  Written and researched by Robert Andrews, Jules Brown, Phil Lee and Rob Humphreys, it describes the English as 'the most contradictory people, and however long you spend in the country you'll never figure them out.... a nation of overweight, binge-drinking reality TV addicts, obsessed with toffs and C-list celebrities.'  Liverpool, however, is listed with other regional centres as where the 'most exciting architectural and social developments are taking place.'

Liverpool is featured as one of its '35 things not to miss', described as somewhere that 'may surprise first-time visitors with its breadth of attractions - and there's no more handsome cityscape in the country'.  Liverpool Cathedral is first on the list of England's top ten buildings of the last 100 years, ahead of London's Tate Modern (also designed by Giles Gilbert Scott) and Cornwall's Eden Project.
