Education at Liverpool Cathedral

Each visit is an active learning experience designed to encourage pupils to ask questions.

We hope to provide experiences and memories that will last beyond the length of their visit. We are always happy to adapt and develop our workshops to meet your pupils’ particular needs. We want to make teachers happy too! So we will do everything we can to make sure that your visit runs smoothly.

Introduction to the Team

Our talented schools team is made up of experienced qualified teachers, education guides, arts practitioners and others, all of whom have a passion for the Cathedral, learning outside the classroom and the creative arts.

Our Facilities

The Education Centre has two self-contained classrooms at the rear of the Cathedral (East End). Children’s coats and bags may be left here if you have booked workshop sessions.  Public toilets are available within the Cathedral. The Well area of the Cathedral is usually available for booked school groups to eat their packed lunches. The Education rooms are also available to hire for schools’ own self-guided activities, teacher INSET, conferences and seminars.

Teacher training

We run several teacher training courses using the Book Arts. Learn to make your own book Art and show your colleagues how to make books with their own children. Book Art activities tie together RE, literacy, language, DT and develop higher-order thinking skills.

Our Education Team runs sessions for teachers and those in training, based around the Cathedral’s education programme. Please contact the Education Team for more details on how we can tailor sessions to meet your needs.
