In return they are asked to give a gift of £30 to the Cathedral Foundation, which helps keep the Cathedral free to visitors, fund choral music at Christmas and throughout the year and goes towards the upkeep of the building.

Some choose to have their family name, a message from across the miles or simply used their angel to wish someone a Merry Christmas.

Cathedral Fundraiser Tina Morris said:

“We hope to fill our tree each year with hundreds of angels that will twinkle throughout each Christmas period. We hope that they will make the experience of visiting our Cathedral at Christmas even more special and allow people to show their personal connection to Liverpool and the Cathedral at this special time of year. In lighting up an angel you are also helping us to keep our Cathedral free to visitors and to fund our music which is at its best at Christmas."

To light up your angel over a Christmas period, visit the Cathedral 10am-4pm Monday-Friday nearer the time and look for the tree to pick up a form, or contact:

With many thanks to John Tasker for donating the angel tree.
