Part of the Liverpool Cathedral Lent Lectures 2021 series: Liberty to the Captives

This year, the Lent Lecture series explores how we, as Christians, can address the legacy of past engagement with the transatlantic slave trade and support the ongoing aspiration to end modern-day slavery in all its forms. This session is in collaboration with Liverpool Parish Church

  • Hosted by Bishop Paul Bayes
  • Speakers: Revd Canon Dr Crispin Pailing, Rector of Liverpool and Mr Laurence Westgaph.

Laurence and Crispin are currently researching for a PhD on the legacy of the slave trade in Liverpool.

In this session of the Lent Lectures, they will present findings, so far, of their research into the connections between the Parish Church and the transatlantic slave trade.
