The Revd Canon Prof Leslie Francis; Canon Theologian, Liverpool Cathedral. Professor of Religions and Psychology, University of Warwick

Leslie J Francis serves as Canon Theologian at Liverpool Cathedral. Leslie was ordained priest in 1974 in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. Since finishing his curacy in 1977, he has worked as an academic and welcomed opportunities for self-supporting ministry, including periods as priest in charge of rural parishes in Suffolk and then in Gloucestershire. He is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society and currently serves as Professor of Religions and Psychology in the University of Warwick. He is best known for quantitative studies and is co-architect of the current survey concerning Covid-19 and Church-21. In this lecture he will build on his book Anglican Cathedrals in modern life: The science of cathedral studies (2015), and draw on the findings of the surveys conducted in Liverpool Cathedral during Christmas 2019.
