Catch up on the latest news from Liverpool Cathedral for Sunday, 10th January 2021.
Welcome from Dean Sue
Welcome to our first e-news of 2021. I hope you all had a peaceful Christmas and New Year and are ready for the challenges that face us as we move in to 2021. It feels in some ways that we have returned to March 2020, but of course we have not as we have learnt so much since that time. I believe it is different this time as we have the hope of Spring and the New Life that both Spring and Easter brings us. We also have the hope in medical science and the vaccines in particular.
This morning’s Gospel reading through the Baptism of Jesus gives us new hope in God and hope in the spirit of God. God has promised us through the death of God’s Son that he will not abandon us, but will walk with us through the trials and tribulations of life. So as we journey through another lockdown let us give thanks for the hope that God offers us through Christ’s baptism and our own baptism. Let us walk in the spirit of hope.
At the Jordan you revealed Jesus as your Son;
May we who recognise him as Lord
And know ourselves to be your beloved children;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
