Catch up on the latest news from Liverpool Cathedral for Sunday, 26th September

Welcome from Dean Sue

A very warm welcome to this week’s e-news. You will see from the information in this bulletin that at the beginning of October we have the opportunity to reflect upon generosity and this reflection leads a week later into our Harvest Thanksgiving. Our God is a generous God and we have so much to thank God for in our lives and in the Church. So as we move towards October we hope you will reflect on the generosity of God.

Lord Jesus,

may your generosity of spirit

so inhabit my mind and actions

that it is second nature today

and all the days of my life.

Amen

Worship with us this week

Join us in person for 8:30am Morning Prayer and the 12:05 pm Eucharist on weekdays and Saturdays, and Evensong/Evening Prayer at 5:30pm on weekdays and 3pm on Saturdays. Click the following link and look below the main banner of our website beneath ‘Services’ for each day’s in-person service offerings and locations: www.liverpoolcathedral.org.uk/.

During the autumn we are reviewing the pattern of livestreaming services, and on Sunday 26th the team will be away from the Cathedral with the choir, for the annual visit to Colomendy, North Wales, so there will not be a livestream this week.

Canon Myles is presiding and preaching at St Christopher, Norris Green this morning.

From next week the Sunday Eucharist at 10:30 am and Sunday Choral Evensong at 3 pm will be live-streamed again, from the Cathedral Facebook page and YouTube page.

Community Roll
We are in the process of updating our Community Roll, the list of members of the Cathedral, including those who live further away but who retain an active interest. It can also include people who join us on-line for worship, discipleship and other activities. It has been a very valuable resource for the clergy through lockdown, to help us keep in touch. If you are not on the Roll, or need to update your details, please go to the link below, to complete and submit the simple form linked here: https://liverpoolcathedral.beaconforms.com/form/c2255dbe

Thank you. If you have any queries, then please contact Canon Neal on neal.barnes@liverpoolcathedral.org.uk.

A Choir for Every Age
We are recruiting singers to our choirs: Cathedral Junior Choir (ages 6-11), Gilbert Scott Singers (11-18) and Liverpool64 (SATB choir for 18+).  The Junior Choir and Gilbert Scott Singers are rehearsing in-person again, and Liverpool64 should be returning imminently. To discuss joining a choir, email: stephen.mannings@liverpoolcathedral.org.uk.

Cathedral Confirmation Service – Sunday 7th November 2021
We are delighted that the Bishop of Liverpool will be joining us this November to preside at a Confirmation service. Confirmation is the occasion when we can confirm the promises made by us or for us at Baptism in a special service in which the Bishop lays hands on our heads to ask for God’s continuing blessing and anointing of the Holy Spirit. If you are interested in being confirmed, then please speak to Canon Philip, if you are part of the Music Department, or Canon Neal if you are part of the wider Cathedral community.

Community Lunch – Sunday 21st November 2021
Yes, it’s back! We are looking forward to re-starting our community lunches – with the first being held on Sunday 21st November at 12:15 in the Dining Room.  All are welcome from all communities within the cathedral.  To maintain being safe and cautious for this first one, please bring your own food, just for yourself….and we will provide hot drinks and juice.  But, as before……all are welcome and we can have lunch together whilst enjoying each other’s company, in friendship and fellowship!
