We’re looking forward to welcoming you back to worship at Liverpool Cathedral for our annual Consecration Service.

Following the consecration of the Cathedral in 1924, 20 years after the laying of the foundation stone, the Cathedral continues to mark this occasion in July each year.

Consecration Sunday is an opportunity for the whole Cathedral community to come together and rededicate itself and the building, recognising it was built by the people, for the people to the Glory of God.

To keep you and our people safe while you’re with us, we’ve made some changes to how we organise services. We have done this in line with current advice around hygiene and social distancing. You’ll find out about what to expect outlined below.

Even if you have been to a service before, we need you to let us know that you are coming so that we can make sure the Cathedral isn’t too busy and we have chairs arranged to keep you, our people plus other worshippers and visitors safe.

Please note, the spaces for this service are limited, to keep you safe and inline with current Government and Church of England guidelines.

A Safe Visit

If you’re feeling unwell, in a high-risk category, self-isolating or if you or anyone you’ve been in contact with has symptoms of coronavirus, please come to a service another time. We’ll look forward to welcoming you to a service soon but right now, it’s not worth the risk to the health of other people. Thank you for your understanding.

Please Don’t Touch

While we’ll be cleaning much more regularly than normal, if you could try to avoid touching surfaces as much as possible it will help reduce the spread of coronavirus.

Keeping Your Hands Clean

You’ll be able to sanitise your hands on the way into and at various points around the Cathedral. You’ll see the places where you can sanitise your hands clearly signposted. Please make sure you wash your hands thoroughly after using the toilet.

Digital Giving

You may know that handling cash can increase the risk of coronavirus spreading so we’re encouraging our congregation to give digitally. If you’d like to consider giving online instead of cash or envelopes on the collection plate, you can find out more here.

Keep Apart

Please keep your distance from our people and other worshippers. We’re operating a one-way system with signs in place to make sure you can easily find your way around the Cathedral.

If you’re not able to visit us in person or need to ask for prayer out of hours, you can do this via our Prayer for Liverpool website which has been set up especially with this in mind.
