Sense of Sound Singers is a national collective of highly skilled a cappella singers who deliver dynamic arrangements of original songs and sometimes interpretations of other works. Performing as a 9-piece ensemble they welcome Sub5 (Hannover) to Liverpool for what promises to be an exciting joint performance.
20:30 — 23:00
Live performances at 21:00 & 22:30
In Atoms presents a new installation and performance work that imagines a world where the human fixation with classification breaks down and a more authentic understanding of relationships emerges. Presented as a two-screen dialogue with an original musical score, the piece utilises tape and Super 8 collage and manipulation. Through slow and blissful loops of sound, dialogue, and film footage, The Imago tells the life cycle of a moth as a personal history between two people. The dialogue breaks down; the lines blur. Only the moths remain.
This event is part of the ninth annual LightNight Liverpool, the free one-night arts festival, which is taking place on Friday 18 May 2018.
LightNight showcases the creative lifeblood of Liverpool, presenting new and ambitious artistic commissions amidst a vibrant programme of more than 100 events including everything from concerts, exhibitions, hands-on workshops and dance to street performance, theatre and talks.
It's the perfect chance to enjoy the bustling atmosphere and experience the city’s cultural offer after-hours with friends and family.
This LightNight we will question and reflect upon the transformative nature of the self and the world around us. Understood as a significant change in people or place, ‘transformation’ is happening all around us: visible or invisible, turbulent and political, personal and emotional.
LightNight Liverpool is produced by local social enterprise Open Culture.
Festival guides can be purchased from selected venues across the city centre 1-18 May or ordered online at www.lightnightliverpool.co.uk.
