The Gilbert Scott Singers will begin rehearsals in September 2019. It is a SATB choir for young people aged 14+ and is particularly suited to those studying music at GCSE, A-Level or at university level.

When do we rehearse?

The choir rehearses on Wednesdays during term time from 6.30-7.30pm in the music department.

Is there an audition?

Yes, there is an audition for this choir. All members must be able to read music to at least an intermediate standard. There is a high turnaround of new music and sometimes not a great deal of time in which to learn it, so existing sight-reading skills are important.

Where does the choir perform and what music does it sing?

The Gilbert Scott Singers gives regular performances throughout the academic year. Many of these take place in the cathedral in the contecxt of services and concerts. The repertoire is largely classical/sacred based, however the choir will occasionally learn popular and secular music too, depending on the nature of the performance it is preparing for. 

Is there a cost to join?

No. The Gilbert Scott Singers is free to join.

How do i apply to join?

Applicants for the choir need to be 14 years +, so at least in school year 9. You'll need to arrange to come in for an audition with the choir director. If you're under 18 you'll need to bring a parent or guardian with you to the audition and they must be able to give their consent to you potentially joining the choir.
